Exploring Amsterdam

Amsterdam, the city of bicycles, with over 810,000 bikes filling the streets and a city I fell head over heels in love with. Me and three friends flew to Amsterdam to celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of 2019. We arrived and wasted no time in getting out and exploring, the streets around Amsterdam remind me a little of the Brighton lanes. We had a delicious Italian for dinner and of course a few drinks to start the trip off. The next day we were up and ready to see more of this incredible city. We started our trip by going to the sex museum, a very interesting experience, filled with images, simulators, statues, even a massive penis! We spent the rest of the afternoon walking round Amsterdam, it’s such a beautiful city, and of course we made sure to get the typical tourist photo in front on the bridges! For dinner, we decided to try out the hostel bar, I had a burger and fries and it was delicious, this hostel is one of the nicest ones I’ve ever stayed in. We had a few drinks before going back to our room to carry on drinking and get ready for New Years. Our New Year’s Eve was spent in a roof top bar that looked over the city and it was incredible, the lights lit the whole city and the reflected on the river. There was firework display at midnight to see in the new year. Spending New Years in Amsterdam was the best way to start the year.
The next day wow we were hungover, so we spent the morning in bed, recovering. When we finally made it to see the light of day and the start to the New Year we spent the afternoon exploring, trying to survive our banging heads. We ate at Wagamamas, I know coming to Amsterdam and eating somewhere we could in England, but that teriyaki chicken was what I needed.  For our last day, we explored the rest of the city we hadn’t seen, by 4pm all we wanted was a glass of wine, so we found this cute little Italian and ate pasta and had the nicest wine I’ve ever tasted, I could have drunk a bucket.  It was then time to fly home, this was the best way to start the year and me and my best friend Linds have promised that this will become our new tradition.
